Biological Activity

Isoxaflutole is an isoxazole herbicide that acts as a pro-herbicide, converting in plants and soil to its active diketonitrile metabolite which inhibits 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD). It provides pre-emergence control of broadleaf and grass weeds.

Spectrum and Route of Action:

Selective soil-applied herbicide absorbed by both roots and emerging shoots and translocated acropetally. The active metabolite inhibits HPPD, causing bleaching and death of germinating weeds. Provides extended residual control. Corn rapidly detoxifies the compound.

Scope of Application:

Controls a wide range of weeds including:

• Broadleaf weeds (lambsquarters, pigweeds, kochia, nightshades, ragweed, velvetleaf)

• Annual grasses (crabgrass, foxtails, barnyardgrass, woolly cupgrass)

Mainly used on:

• Corn/maize (field corn, seed corn, sweet corn, popcorn)

• Sugarcane

• Soybeans (tolerant varieties)
