Other name: BIR (active ingredient in Acuron, Halex GT)
Cas No.: 352010-68-5
Biological Activity
Bicyclopyrone is a pyrone herbicide that inhibits 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD). It provides both pre-emergence residual and post-emergence control of broadleaf and grass weeds in corn.
Spectrum and Route of Action:
Systemic herbicide absorbed by both roots and foliage and translocated throughout the plant. It inhibits HPPD, causing bleaching and chlorosis of susceptible weeds. Provides both foliar activity and residual soil control. Corn rapidly metabolizes the compound.
Scope of Application:
Controls a wide range of weeds including:
• Broadleaf weeds (pigweeds/amaranths, lambsquarters, morningglory, cocklebur, ragweed)
• Annual grasses (crabgrass, foxtails, barnyardgrass, fall panicum)
• Certain ALS- and glyphosate-resistant weeds
Mainly used on:
• Corn/maize (field corn, seed corn, silage corn, sweet corn)
• Popcorn
