Biological Activity
Tembotrione is a triketone herbicide that inhibits 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD). It provides post-emergence control of a broad spectrum of broadleaf and grass weeds in corn.
Spectrum and Route of Action:
Systemic post-emergence herbicide absorbed by leaves and roots and translocated throughout the plant. It inhibits HPPD, disrupting carotenoid biosynthesis and causing bleaching of growing points. Susceptible weeds show white/bleached foliage within 3-7 days and die within 2-3 weeks. Often formulated with the safener isoxadifen-ethyl.
Scope of Application:
Controls a wide range of weeds including:
• Broadleaf weeds (pigweeds/amaranths, lambsquarters, ragweed, velvetleaf, morningglory, cocklebur)
• Annual grasses (foxtails, crabgrass, barnyardgrass, fall panicum)
• Some perennial broadleaf weeds
Mainly used on:
• Corn/maize (field corn, sweet corn, seed corn, silage corn)
• Sugarcane
