Biological Activity

Pyroxsulam is a triazolopyrimidine sulfonamide herbicide that inhibits acetolactate synthase (ALS). It provides post-emergence control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in wheat and triticale.

Spectrum and Route of Action:

Systemic post-emergence herbicide absorbed through leaves, shoots, and roots and translocated via both xylem and phloem. It inhibits ALS, blocking branched-chain amino acid synthesis and stopping cell division. Weed growth stops within hours; visible symptoms (chlorosis, reddening) appear within 1-2 weeks.

Scope of Application:

Controls a wide range of weeds including:

• Annual grasses (blackgrass, annual ryegrass, wild oats, silky bentgrass, false oatgrass)

• Broadleaf weeds (chickweed, cleavers, mayweeds, speedwells, deadnettles, poppies)

Mainly used on:

• Wheat (winter and spring, including durum)

• Triticale
