Biological Activity
Dimethenamid-P is a chloroacetamide herbicide that inhibits very-long-chain fatty acid (VLCFA) synthesis. It provides pre-emergence and early post-emergence control of annual grasses and certain broadleaf weeds.
Spectrum and Route of Action:
Selective soil-applied herbicide absorbed primarily by shoots (coleoptiles) and roots of germinating weeds. It inhibits cell division by blocking VLCFA elongation, preventing normal shoot emergence and growth. Best applied pre-emergence or at planting.
Scope of Application:
Controls a wide range of weeds including:
• Annual grasses (barnyardgrass, foxtails, crabgrass, annual ryegrass)
• Annual broadleaf weeds (pigweeds, lambsquarters, nightshade, purslane)
• Certain sedges (yellow nutsedge suppression)
Mainly used on:
• Corn/maize
• Soybeans
• Peanuts
• Dry beans
• Sugarbeets
• Sunflowers
• Potatoes
• Vegetable crops (onions, tomatoes, cabbage)
• Orchards and vineyards
