Biological Activity

Pyrasulfotole is a pyrazolone herbicide that inhibits 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), blocking carotenoid biosynthesis and causing bleaching and death of susceptible broadleaf weeds in cereal crops.

Spectrum and Route of Action:

Selective post-emergence herbicide absorbed by foliage and translocated systemically. It inhibits HPPD, disrupting carotenoid production and causing chlorophyll photo-oxidation. Bleaching symptoms appear within days; death follows within 1-2 weeks. Used with the safener mefenpyr-diethyl.

Scope of Application:

Controls a wide range of weeds including:

• Broadleaf weeds (kochia, chickweed, cleavers, pigweeds, lambsquarters, wild buckwheat, prickly lettuce)

•  ALS-resistant broadleaf biotypes

Mainly used on:

• Wheat (winter and spring, including durum)

• Barley

• Oats

• Rye

• Triticale
